It’s Friday…We Have Clarity

Our world is awfully confused about what is right and wrong. Worse yet, it is largely ignorant of the way to God. If ever there was a time to speak up, this is it. Our needy planet is desperate for a word from God.

The Apostle Paul tells us that no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God, which, by the way, we have as committed followers to Him (1 Cor. 2:11-12). The Spirit doesn’t just know the general will of God; He searches all things, even the deep things of God (v. 10). In a world hungry for Truth, we as followers of Christ have been given free access to it, and it is wonderful. Truth is far more fulfilling and amazing than we could ever have imagined, but it is lacking in voices. There are plenty of opinions out there, but few with the power of the Spirit behind them. A shallow world needs to hear the deep things of God.

That doesn’t mean our message will be gladly accepted by all. Like children who are hungry at meal time but reluctant to eat what is set in front of them, the dazed and confused seekers of our generation may not recognize the deep things of God when they see them. But the Spirit who reveals them is powerful. He can penetrate any heart He chooses. Our job as followers of God is not to convince people of His deep things, but simply to declare them. The Spirit of God does the rest.

“We have the mind of Christ.” (I Corinthians 2:16)

This is true, and because The Word says so. That places two equal responsibilities on us. The first is to be filled with, steeped in, and standing firm on the deep secrets of God. He didn’t give us His mind for us to vacillate on His will. Wishy-washy followers are called “unstable” and “double-minded” in James 1:5-8. The mind of Christ is not indecisive.

Our second responsibility is to give the world the wisdom it so desperately needs. We can’t force it on anyone, and we can’t expect people without the Spirit of God ruling their hearts to understand spiritual realities. But we can make sure they hear, and the Spirit will help some see the wisdom in His truths. We Have Clarity where the world has confusion. We have the mind of Christ.
