It’s Friday…We Can Never Go Wrong

Athletes train for one purpose: to win. Businesses exist with one goal: to earn a profit. Hedonists live for one passion: to have a good time. Misers hoard for one reason: to accumulate. Some of these ambitions are admirable, others misguided. But there is one key to seeing them come to pass: if we are single-minded about our pursuits, we are more likely to accomplish them.

The Apostle Paul was single-minded about the Glory of God. That’s why being beaten nearly to death or imprisoned didn’t seem to faze him. That’s why no insult was harsh enough to get him off track, no philosophical argument strong enough to sway him. He was focused on the Glory of God, and everything else took a back seat.

That’s the attitude Paul urges his fellow believers to have. The Church in Corinth had gotten off track with a number of distractions – immorality, disunity, idolatry, and more. In the middle of Paul’s lengthy instructions to them in his letter about these and other issues, he sums up the remedy to them all with this one command:

“Whatever you do, do it all for the Glory of God.”  (1 Corinthians 10:31)

That, right there, would solve a lot of the problems we have in our faithful pursuit of pleasing God first. Instead of figuring out which freedoms we can get away with and which are actually sinful; instead of arguing with God over His Will for our lives; instead of picking and choosing whom we will exhibit grace toward; we can always be guided by this one principle. If it gives God glory first, it’s probably worthwhile. If it doesn’t, it certainly isn’t.

The truth is, God’s Glory is the answer to many of the issues we struggle with. Let’s be consumed with this one purpose and let it become our driving passion. If we do, we’ll be amazed at how insignificant many of our problems will become. Our lives will be defined by what we set our hearts on. And if we set them on giving God all the glory, We Can Never Go Wrong.

Have a glorious weekend. Make it better by worshiping The Lord with those whose hearts beat for God because they know without Him, they’ll end up dead wrong in many of their choices and decisions.

All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.

“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
