It’s Friday…Your Potential Today Is Huge

It’s Labor Day weekend. The Labor Day holiday is on the first Monday in September. According to the US Department of Labor, this day is “dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.” Some of these achievements are obvious and immediate. Other work creates outcomes we cannot measure on this side of eternity.

God is a builder and He is building His Kingdom, and it won’t be small or incomplete. It will be worthy of His majesty and glory. It will be even better than the prophets in the Old Testament described.

“I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem.”  (Zechariah 8:3)

Zechariah prophesied during the time of rebuilding, when captives had returned to Jerusalem and began the work of restoration. In case the laborers forgot the magnitude of their sacred task and began to see it as simply a building project, Zechariah’s prophecy gave them a powerful motivation: God Himself was returning to Zion. The restoration of Jerusalem was not a manual labor nightmare. It was a privilege of the highest order.

There is a parallel for those of us who have been grafted into God’s Kingdom. The things we do in His name, even the most mundane of tasks, are eternally significant. To the extent we are given over to His purposes, we are laborers in a sacred endeavor. And our task is focused on something far greater than a temple of stone in which our Lord did dwell in. We’re craftsmen of a temple of flesh in which each one of us is a building block – and in which the King of Glory now lives. There is no higher service in the universe.

You may have gotten up this morning dreading the work you have to do, or perhaps being completely bored with the prospect of your day. If so, consider the magnitude of your position. As the temple of God, you are a key element in His eternal Kingdom, and your labor is never mundane. Whatever you have to do today, you can do it in the Spirit of Jesus, with grace and reverence, knowing that in God’s Kingdom even small stones are big. Your Potential Today Is Huge – and it is absolutely sacred.

Have a purpose-filled weekend. Make it better by worshiping The Lord with those who see their lives as a place where God is pleased to dwell because it is in them and through them where He is most glorified.

All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.

“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
