It’s Friday…Act The Part Now

Can you imagine a world without danger? It’s foreign to us, isn’t it? Some write novels about utopia or make science fiction movies about societies that have advanced beyond the threats of war and disease. Other than a very few, most people consider these fictional civilizations to be anything other than a pipe-dream. Why? Because no one has seen anything even remotely resembling utopia since the Garden of Eden. The idea is so far-fetched that even the Garden of Eden is considered by most these days to be fictional.

“The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent’s food.”  (Isaiah 65:25)

Still, God makes this outlandish claim through the prophecies of Isaiah and others. Mortal enemies will dine together in peace. Those who used to eat each other for dinner will enjoy warm fellowship without fear. Evil instigators who have always fed themselves on corruption and strife will have nothing to eat but dust.

Yet, as with the other promises of God about the new creation, this one is to be enjoyed in some degree now. Those of us who have been born again can partake of the blessings of new-creation-hood. Yes, we face tribulations in this world – Jesus said so – but He also assured His disciples that not a hair of their head would perish (Luke 21:18). He gave them every reason to live in this world without fear of danger, no matter what dangers they faced. They were to live as citizens of the new heaven and the new earth, even in the midst of the old ones.

God’s new creation promises are utterly contrary to the current condition of the world on nearly every point. That’s Good News for all who are beaten down by the old creation. It’s such Good News, in fact, that it’s hard for us to believe.

Believe it anyway. Whatever you go through today, remember that the end result will be you sitting down and enjoying eternal fellowship in a world with no hint of fear and disappointment. So, let’s go ahead and Act The Part Now; one day, we will live it completely.

Have a fearless weekend. Make it better by worshiping The LORD with those who know His promises well and live each day in dependance of Him who is able to make each one of them a reality in their lives.

All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.

“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
