It’s Friday…We Are Never Victims

Weak leaders seem to be a-plenty these days. Perhaps because we, as a culture, have a weak view of God? Our culture’s popular image of God is of a weak, passive grandfather figure who won’t or can’t confront the evils of our age. But that’s not so of the God of the Bible. He’s a Warrior that gets riled up over contradictions to His Kingdom. He hates injustice and unrighteousness, and He will oppose such betrayal with a vengeance. God is not about to relinquish His Kingdom to a fallen angel or a proud race of rebels.

“The LORD will march out like a Mighty man, like a Warrior He will stir up His zeal; with a shout He will raise the battle cry and will triumph over His enemies .”  (Isaiah 42:13)

A lot of people don’t like that image of God, believing it to be too emotional and undignified for The Sovereign Creator. But God’s own revelation shows Himself strong again and again. He brought Israel out of Egypt quite forcefully, and He resolutely led His people into the Promised Land. He knows how to deal with prideful enemies swiftly and firmly. He is a tower of strength, a refuge, a deliverer, a zealous defender of the weak and helpless, a strong advocate for those who have no voice. God is ultimately in charge of His entire creation, and at the right times and in the right ways, He proves it.

God’s track record ought to keep us who follow Him from ever panicking about anything. We Are Never Victims of those who oppose the gospel. Though we live in a world with values contrary to the Kingdom of God and even hostile to His Truth, we aren’t on the losing side. Rebellion can only go so far before God quashes it. We have nothing – absolutely nothing – to fear.

The world can be intimidating, but if we have a clear picture of our Warrior, intimidation tends to vanish. If we can see the end result of the war between good and evil, today’s battles won’t seem nearly so stressful. We have every right, as believers in the victorious Messiah, to rest in His strength and enjoy His love. Yes, we fight, but we fight from a secure position and with the power of Another. Knowing that our enemies are His enemies will help us live in peace and victory.

Have a peace-filled weekend. Make it better by worshiping The LORD with those who live in peace and confidence because they know how the battle ends, and they also know that that He has never, nor will He ever fail them.

All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.

“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
