God is still in the business of speaking to this world. The ultimate sign of course, was the same one pointed to so often in Isaiah: a Child would be born of a virgin, a Servant would suffer for the sins of others, a Rescuer would preserve a remnant. Jesus is still the sign that the world needs to see. But there are still other signs that point to Jesus. God is drawing the world to Himself through the people in whom His Spirit dwells.
“This is The LORD’s sign to you that The LORD will do what He has promised.” (Isaiah 38:7)
There is to be something clearly supernatural about the believer’s life that affirms that God’s Word is true. Our lives should be the evidence that He has kept His promises. If we aren’t as unexplainable as a shadow going backwards on the staircase, as Hezekiah witnessed, no one will recognize that God is at work. The Bible becomes a storybook, a collection of myths, to a world that sees no difference between those who believe it and those who don’t. If anything in our time is to authenticate the miraculous power of the Word of God, it has to be us.
That’s a high calling, but it’s one with enormous impact. It requires an all-out pursuit into the heart of God by people who are relentlessly determined to experience His presence and power. This is no lifestyle for those comfortable with mediocrity.
So, let’s ask God daily, even hourly, to Make Our Lives Unexplainable. Let’s tell Him often of our fervent desire to be a sign for our world. Let’s ask Him to visibly validate the promises we already believe. Let’s allow Him to make us a witness of His power. Agree?
Have a remarkable weekend. Make it better by worshiping The LORD with those who live to make Christ known because they know Him really, really well.
