It’s Friday…Where is Your Life Pointed?

It’s a new day in America. President Trump has returned to the White House, and he has labeled his return, “The Golden Age.” He has big plans, and he is carrying them out in big ways.

Have you ever wondered what God’s plan is? There is no clearer statement of the goal of history than the words Jesus spoke in Matthew’s gospel:

“And this gospel of The Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)

Political scientists have written that the age of liberal democracy marks “the end of history,” the fulfillment of political ideology. But history isn’t about political solutions. New Age Darwinists proclaim a next stage of evolution in which we become “superhumans.” But history isn’t about biological perfection. Economist plot ways to distribute the world’s wealth equitably and profitably so that we can achieve material utopia. But history isn’t about economics.

No, history is about The Kingdom of God and its proclamation among all peoples. And when The Kingdom has drawn its members from every people group, Jesus will announce the end of human history. And no matter what the World Economic Forum believes, all hopes for utopia – political, economic, human potential, etc. – will be found to have aimed far too low when He comes.

Many philosophers see no direction in history, and so the culture they influence is directionless. But Jesus allows no randomness in the lives of His followers. We do not drift through history. We are given a clear goal. We are to point to Jesus Christ, the sum of all things (Colossians  1:16-18).

The question is, Where Is Your Life Pointed? Is it consistent with the goal of history that Jesus has made plain? The beauty of His story is that we can be involved in history’s progress towards its climax. God is allowing us to partner with His Spirit in His plan for this world. Everything we do must be for the building up of His Kingdom. It is His dream for everyone who knows Him as King to be involved in its proclamation to all peoples. It is His desire for every eye to watch for His coming again.

Let’s leave it to others to speculate. We can choose the right direction because we know something the world doesn’t know – how the story ends.

Have a history-making weekend. Make it better by worshiping The LORD with those who are in lockstep with His Spirit in making much about His Kingdom and His Will just as it is in Heaven.

All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.

“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
