Anything we can find significance in will eventually prove empty. The trophies, the promotions, our work, our popularity, the love we crave – none of it lasts. Well, almost none. There is one source of significance that counts for everything, and this goes for everyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their LORD: the fact that we are children of The Most High God.
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” (John 14:18)
Jesus told His disciples – and through them, He tells us – that we are significant to Him, we have a Father in Heaven who will never leave us nor forsake us.
We may think that children of presidents, kings, and the rich and famous are in a privilege position. Inwardly, there may be times we are envious of them. But their privilege doesn’t match ours. Our Father is the Author of all that is – even of their parent’s fame and power.
Jesus tells us to pray to the Almighty God as “Father,” John tells us that God gave to those who believe the right to become His children (John 1:12), and Paul says the Spirit of God’s Son is in our hearts crying out, “Abba, Father” (Galatians 4:6).
Isn’t it ridiculous that we would search for significance in anything, anyone else? That’s like trying to find beauty in graffiti when we’re offered the works of Michelangelo. Why would we persist in such absurdity?
On this Father’s Day weekend, if you’re feeling unimportant, lonely, discouraged, empty, directionless – know this, you are not an orphan. Meditate on the fact that you are a child of The Most High. Let that thought sink in. Let It Consume You. It’s incredibly true and significant.
Have a fulfilling weekend. Make it better by worshiping The LORD with those who walk with confidence because their security and significance is found in Him. Regardless of how they may feel from time-to-time, they know that nothing or no one is able to change that fact.
All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.
