But it wasn’t so subtle for a young Jewish girl named Mary. After she got over an angel scaring the daylights out of her, she responds with an open heart. . .
“Behold I am the servant of The Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38)
Mary was an ordinary person distinguished by her availability to God. You see, God is not looking for skilled people. He’s not looking for people with the sharpest I.Q’s. He’s not looking for superstars. He doesn’t need talent. He doesn’t need slick salespeople. He just needs people who think and say, “I’m here for You to use me as You see fit.”
In short, He’s Looking For Room in our heart to be born in. That’s it? That’s it. He’ll take a stable. And honestly, that’s what most of us are. We think we’re the Hilton, but as the apostle Paul accurately declared, “We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us” (2 Corinthians 4:7).
In the wonder of God becoming man, He made Himself available to us. Can we have the same and appropriate response to Him? What a tremendous gift that would be to Jesus this Christmas. Let’s do it, and allow Him to do His best work in and through us.
Have a blessed weekend. Make it better by worshiping The LORD with those in whom it is their nature to daily speak to Jesus and say, “I’m here for You,” because they know He will always be there for them.
