It’s Friday…Ask Him Now. Ask Often

If there is anything we lack in this world it is wisdom. God knows we need it, but do you ever wonder why He has set up a process for us to gain it? Why would He not just give it to us? Simply because in us coming to Him and asking for His wisdom nurtures our relationship with Him when we receive it. You see, our relationship matters to Him just as His wisdom matters to us.

The wisdom we receive from God is not information imparted, but character learned. We observe who He is and we learn to behave like Him. Because of our mutual relationship we come to know Him in the process. His wisdom is readily available, but we must ask.

Have you found yourself needing guidance in any given situation? Who hasn’t. Our usual tendency is to pray for direction. But God has a better way. Pray for wisdom, and the direction will become clear. If we were to pray for direction, God could only answer by giving us information. But if we ask for wisdom, God answers by giving us His own mind.

“If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who give generously to all without finding fault.” (James 1:5)

We are prone to call upon God for wisdom only when we find ourselves in a difficult spot. But far from being a one-time request when we’re in a pinch, this verse hints at an ongoing process. It isn’t that we ask for wisdom one day when we’re at our wit’s end; we are to ask for wisdom daily because we know we will find ourselves at our wit’s end sooner or later.

God’s provision of His mind is often given in advance. It is more than instructions for a way to go; it is training for a way of life.

How often do we try to figure things out on our own? How often do we ask others for advice? The crucial step, often neglected, is to ask God first. Ask Him Now. Ask Often. Let’s make the asking a regular part of our lives. Let’s not wait until trouble comes; Let’s learn the mind of God now. He offers it generously.

Have an enjoyable weekend. Make it better by worshiping The LORD with those who know where true wisdom is found, and where there is plenty of it at all times.

All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.

“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
