It’s Friday…We Have Nothing to Fear

We live in an age of turmoil, but that’s nothing new. Everyone since the Garden of Eden has lived in such an age. Sin has ravaged this planet, and history has witnessed empire against empire, fighting to the death. The back halls of legislatures and parliaments, the high offices of presidents and kings, and the war rooms of generals have long been filled with plotting and planning. Everyone has an agenda, and it doesn’t matter much whether that agenda is based on nationalism, ideology, vengeance, security, or cultural conflict: No one’s agenda but God’s will enthrone the Lord of glory.

“The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.” (Psalm 2:4)

God sits in heaven and laughs – not because He thinks it’s funny, but because He knows the truth of the future. His plan will be carried out, and His Son, Jesus Christ, will be exalted. Despite the scheming of men and nations, despite the massive presence of massive weapons, despite the political philosophies of ancient Greece, Machiavelli, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, or even Putin – good or bad, free or dictatorial – humanity’s devices will fail and God will reign. That’s certain.

That’s good to know in an age of terrorism and ethnic hostilities. Wars and rumors of wars may rattle us, but there’s no need to be rattled. The One enthroned in heaven laughs. He knows. There is an end to this story, and it is unquestionable. Not only that, it’s also unquestionably good. Righteousness will be established and peace will prevail. It will take a miraculous intervention, but that’s exactly what we’re promised. It will come through the clouds when few expect it.

Our response to this violent world is not to look scared, but to look up. Our final redemption is coming because our Redeemer has been promised an inheritance. The King has assured us: We Have Nothing to Fear.

Do you live in fear in this age of uncertainty? Don’t. Let the nations roar and remember that God laughs at their arrogance. Our greatest threats are nothing compared to His strength.

Have a peace-filled weekend. Make it better by worshiping The Lord with those who are living with confidence in Him because they know He is Sovereign, and His purposes will prevail now, and forever.

All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.

“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
