It’s Friday…We Have An Advantage

“Knowledgeable people are found everywhere, but we are cruelly short of wise people.” Have you found that to be true? In an unwise world, wisdom speaks volumes, doesn’t it? Rarely does anyone do the right thing simply because it’s the right thing to do. Our relativistic culture doesn’t understand why followers of Jesus point to absolutes like they do, but it still takes notice. At some level, probably deep within their hearts, people see wisdom as a sign of The One who is all wise.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5)

How do we become wise? We’re born into a confusing world just as sure as anyone else. We have no special insight in our natural intuition. We all begin at the same starting line: as a clean slate bursting into the delivery room and taking in all we can see and hear. So how can we possibly claim any particular advantage over the wisdom of the world?

As followers of Jesus, we have a God who shares His wisdom with us. He has written His wisdom down for us, and it is at our fingertips as often as we are willing to reach for it. As His children He has birthed us with His Spirit, the interpreter of the inner workings of the holy, sacred mind of God. And He desires for us to be a part of a community of His followers, His own body to which He speaks and through which He moves. Yes, by all means, We Have An Advantage. The mind of Christ is available and accessible 24/7 to us. Amazing!

So, how can we better reflect God’s wisdom in this unwise world? We do this by basing our lives on eternity. By investing our treasures and our talents in ultimately meaningful things. By using our time for everlasting purposes. By leveraging our sorrows and our pains as glorious demonstrations of His mercies and His comfort. By inviting Him into our circumstances to do His will. By accepting His invitation to make His name known and loved to everyone we know. In other words, in all these things, we base our lives on His reality.

That’s what the world needs to see, agree? “Reality” shows on TV are no reflection of His reality. We, however, can be. In a strange confusing world, let’s ask for God’s wisdom and then show it.

Have an insightful weekend. Make it better by worshiping The LORD with those who read His Word and embrace His Truth because they know this world needs it more than ever.

All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.

“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
