Today, as followers of Jesus, that should be the dynamic at work in us as well. Whether God’s miracles in our lives are highly visible or subtly at work behind the scenes, they should produce a love and awe in us that people are drawn to. But those who feed off the status quo – “let’s keep things as is” – will always be opposed to the gospel; there’s nothing status quo about it. But those who have nothing to lose and everything to gain by the great move of God will be attracted to those who seem to know Him. Like moths to a flame, people honest about their need love getting a glimpse of God.
The question we believers need to ask ourselves is whether people are getting a glimpse of God through us. That’s not an issue of success and a problem-free life; it’s a question of whether we are experiencing God wherever we are, even when deeply in need. If we are fulfilled by God, people hungry for fulfillment are more likely to eventually notice.
“They were highly regarded by the people.” (Acts 5:13)
What in your life indicates that God is working? Is He making Himself visible not only to you, but through you? There may be seasons when He seems far away, but there should be seasons when His power is clear to you. And when it is clear to you, somehow and some way it can become clearer to others.
Pray about God’s mission in your life. Spend some time asking Him to show His power in the ways that He wants to show it. Ask that your life line up with His will. And when it does, Be Prepared For People To Notice.
Have an influential weekend. Make it better by worshiping The Lord with those who want to be noticed for eternal reasons because that indicates their words and actions are pointing others to God.
