Sounds like heaven, doesn’t it? It’s also God’s will for us today, right now. God’s Word tells us hundreds of times not to be afraid. It gives us reasons to be strong, courageous, bold, and full of faith. It promises us deliverance, provision, guidance, protection, and eternal life. It’s virtually impossible for God’s Word to be more emphatic that we don’t need to be afraid. All it asks from us is that we believe in Him.
If we were to write a history of our own fear, we would realize that about 90 percent of the things we worry about never happen. We’d realize that about half of the things that did happen were actually brought about or intensified by our fear. And we’d realize that most of the bad things that did happen were things we couldn’t control anyway. All that remained would be an extremely small remnant of legitimate fears that came to fruition. And we’d find that in the meantime, a huge portion of our lives has been spent giving credence to the works of sin and satan, and very little of our lives has been invested in giving credibility to the promises of God.
I’m certain you will agree, that’s no way to live, but we all do it. What we fail to realize is that Jesus turned a group of fearful disciples with issues of pride and anxiety into a group of fearless world changers with almost no regard for their personal safety or reputation. And if we ask ourselves whether the disciples lived better lives before or after the resurrection of Jesus Christ or the day of Pentecost, we’d have to say that their life of complete abandonment and no fear was better than their safe, self-conscience life.
“They will no longer be afraid or terrified.” (Jeremiah 23:4)
That’s what Jesus – The Good Shepherd can do for us. He can give us who believe in Him No Reason To Fear. And our lives will never be the same. I want to live that way. Do you?
Have a peace-filled weekend. Make it better by worshiping Jesus with those who live with their eyes on Him and not on the winds or waves of change around them. They know with certainty there is absolute security in Him today and forever.
All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.
