Do you believe that? If you have surrendered to Him and trust the instructions in His Word are worthwhile, however painful they may seem, then you have begun to realize: The things of this world you’ve clung to are worthless in comparison to His love. They are like a plastic trinket that a child refuses to trade in for a diamond ring because he has grown attached to it. In those moments the absurdity of our idols begins to dawn on us that what we held on to for so long wasn’t worth hanging on to.
When we truly know God, a trust exercised always becomes a trust vindicated. We will not second-guess our sacrifices for trusting Him. Why? Because He gives us ample reason, as least in the long run, to be glad we made them. He never ends up owing us anything.
Yes, the blessing that follows obedience is always well worth the cost that accompanies it.
“I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:18)
So, is trust an issue in your relationship with God? Do you cling to habits, possessions, security, or affections because you fear that God will ask you to give them up and not make the sacrifice worthwhile?
That’s always the lie of idols. The enemy convinced our first parents that God didn’t have their best interest in mind, that He was withholding something valuable from them. Let’s not be deceived by such slander of our Heavenly Father. Even good earthly fathers always want the best for their children, and our Father in Heaven is always very good. We can Count On That. His blessings for our obedience are incredible. He is far more trustworthy than our idols.
Have a blessed weekend. Make it better by worshiping the Heavenly Father with those who trust Him more than they trust themselves because they know His best for them is truly the best of all.
