God is writing a story about our lives. It’s His-story really. But like all great stories, it’s full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and impossible situations that seem to have no possible solution. I’m sure you’ll agree, no one is moved by a story with perfect characters and a few bumps in the road, but grand epics with plenty of humor and drama and happy endings are inspiring. That’s the kind of story God is writing about you, about me. Yes, we are all right in the middle of it. His-story is being written on the pages of our lives at this very moment.
Unfortunately, many people have chosen to judge God in the middle of the story. That’s easy to do, huh? If any fictional character could talk to His author, he would likely have plenty of complaints about the brutality of the plot. That plots often seem go in the wrong direction, and the character doesn’t yet see the end. If he could, he would be encouraged. When things feel bleak, confusing, stressful, as all good plots do at times, we tend to judge The Author for letting us down.
“He has Made everything beautiful in its time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
God, Himself, makes everything beautiful in its time. His Kingdom story in our lives doesn’t end in the middle, when everything looks dark. God’s story doesn’t leave us hanging in impossible situations, wondering how we might possibly survive and grieving that the enemy seems to get away with everything. No, this plot that God is weaving in us is the kind that intrigues audiences with its twists, amazing, even us, with its resolution, and provokes thunderous applause and deep emotion in our spirits at the end of each chapter. No doubt, there will be times throughout this story where we might be sitting on the edge of our seats and wringing our hands, but when it’s over, we exhale and talk about it being the best chapter yet in this on-going saga of God’s plan upon our lives. Yes, we always are able to see His beauty along the journey – in its time, in His time, not ours.
I have learned, am still learning, and will continue to learn that trusting The LORD in the middle of the story is the key to experiencing its beauty. Beauty always looks more beautiful when we trust Him. Don’t Draw Any Conclusions until you see what His conclusions look like. Know that the plot ends well to those who put their trust in Him. So, whatever obstacle you’re facing today, know that it’s a normal twist for a great history maker like God. Here’s The Truth: we’re not living in a midst of a tragedy; The Kingdom Story in all of our lives is both stunning and satisfying, and oh, so beautiful because He is, and that’s just the way He likes it.
Have a delightful weekend. Make it better by worshiping The LORD with those who have given Him the liberty to script His narrative on the pages of their lives because they have learned that no matter what may come, He always comes through in time, every time.
All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.
“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
Thanks Vic. Encouraging!
