Has God made a promise to you through His Word? Has He placed a calling upon your life that is undeniable yet unfulfilled, or placed on pause-mode? Know this, God is a God of promise. He keeps His Word, even when that seems impossible.
God made a promise long ago to Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph that He would bring His people out of Egypt and back into the land of their inheritance. He kept His promise by sending Moses back into Egypt on a mission of deliverance. After bringing them through the waters and teaching them His will, the time came for its fulfillment. The people were ready to enter the Promised Land.
Or were they? God instructs Moses to send 12 men into the land on a reconnaissance mission. Their assignment is not to determine whether the promise was valid; it was to strategize the takeover and settlement. After all, quite a few Canaanites already lived there. It might be good to have a plan when taking the land back from them, you think?
“Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites.” (Number 13:1)
Somehow the spies misinterpreted the mission. They let their fears and their human logic get the best of them (sounds familiar?). They forgot that the Promised Land was actually promised land. Even so, God would get His people there eventually. He always does. He does not neglect His own word, even when His people (yes, you and I) forget them or rebel against them. Yes, the generation of rebels missed the fulfillment, but the fulfillment still came. It always, always does. That’s because God’s Kingdom is based on the reliability of His own plans, not ours.
That’s good to know, isn’t it? Yes, we may miss many of the blessings of the Kingdom ourselves, but we can’t mess up the Kingdom agenda. God is building it, fulfilling it, and blessing it regardless of how we respond. When we pray for His Kingdom to come and His Will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, The Outcome Is Certain. We don’t have to wonder if it’s going to happen because God’s promises never fail.
So, let’s continue to mine God’s Word for His promises. Let’s not allow fear to rob us of their fulfillment; let faith fill us with expectancy. Here’s The Truth: The Kingdom is given to those bold enough to believe it, those who take God at His Word and don’t let go. So, let’s cling to the vision, the calling, the dream He has placed within us; it was put there for a glorious reason.
Have a promising weekend. Make it better by worshiping The LORD with those who love to hear God’s Word, who trust and obey its promises because they have discovered that it is more reliable than the rising of the sun and the set of the same.

“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
