It’s Friday…That’s Not The Way

We’ve all been there. You know, the place where we’ve prayed and tried to muster up faith. Where we’ve been through difficulties and tried to cultivate hope. We’ve read the headlines and tried to maintain confidence. All the while, we’ve struggled with doubts. We’ve all wondered if God will really come through, if those trials will really be resolved, if those circumstances will really work together for good. We’ve all questioned God at one time or another.

Yes, our mind at times is filled with “what ifs.” What if I’m reading God’s promises all wrong? What if the Bible isn’t completely accurate? What if my prayers aren’t answered? Honest doubts nag at us, and they are relentless.

Many of our “what ifs” are strategically placed by the enemy of God, many of them are the natural thinking of this fallen and very limited flesh we live in. Either way, we are restless within until we are able to rest in God.

“Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)

Someone has suggested a shorter version of this verse as, “Faith is the sight of the inward eye.” Our inward eye is part of the reason we pray. Prayer brings us from a place of doubt to a place of faith. We pray not so much to convince God but to convince ourselves that He can and will meet us in our need. Our time with Him in honest conversation reminds us of who He is. And knowing who He is will cultivate faith like nothing else.

So, when we are faced with “what ifs,” how do we respond? Do we nurture them, filling our mind with all the many ways things could go wrong? We all know, That Is Not The Way of faith.

God calls us to come to Him and soak our minds in His unfailing power and love. That’s where faith and wisdom begin and flourish. We cannot approach God in belief unless we first determine that His best for us is also very, very good. Only then can we be certain of what we do not see.

Have a confident weekend. Make it better by worshiping The Lord with those who know His ways because they have learned that in trusting Him, His promises come through every time.

All For Jesus – Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else.

“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16)
